Aislinn is the central character of the teen fantasy novel Wicked Lovely, the first book of the series by same name. The Book is written by Melissa Marr and is suitable to read for 13 years old or up. Aislinn is born in a ‘gifted’ family in which women have the sight to see faeries. She lives with her grandmother in town of Huntsdale, who has taught her to trick faeries into believing that she does not know about them. However, as faeries of Huntsdale are not innocent or harmless, the mischievous creatures always keep Aislinn on edge as she tries to hide her powers by avoiding their nuisance. For her whole life Aislinn has kept her head down and mouth shut as she was told by her grandmother. Though she feels pity for her grandmother, who have lived her whole life in constant fear and caution especially after Aislinn’s mother was taken away from her by the very faeries. Aislinn aspires to go to college after finishing her school and have friends and meet a lovely boy someday. More than anything, Aislinn wants to live freely without worrying about faeries and not to end up like her grandmother.
However, things get only worse for Aislinn when Keenan the royal faery of the summer court discovers her and starts following her with romantic intentions. His powers bounded by his own mother Beira, the evil Winter Queen, Keenan intends to turn Aislinn into a faery and make her his Summer Queen. He is seeking Aislinn’s help and support to warm the world and grow stronger to face his mother. However, Aislinn is least interested in him and rebuffs any advancement from his side.

When it gets impossible for Aisleen to avoid him, she has no choice, but to tell her closest friend Seth about her secret sight and the problem of having a stalking faery. Seth agrees to help her but, their research on fey (the faery race) reveals that she has to take a test otherwise she will become a Summer Girl and will be tied with Keenan forever. However, if she takes the test of Winter Staff, she could either become the Summer Queen to help Keenan fight his evil mother or become an isolated Winter Queen herself.

Aislinn had loathed fey for her whole life and idea of joining them fill her with despise, however she is not able to resist Keenan anymore and agrees to go to a fair with him. She felt safe with the notion of having people around her and Keenan in the fair but after reaching their soon she realizes that the fair comprises of faeries glamour as mortals only. Under the influence of summer wine, she reveals there her secret to Keenan about ability to see faeries for their true-selves and kisses him.

Aislinn also finds out that another faery Donia is pursuing her. When confronted, Donia tries to persuade Aislinn to not to help Keenan. Later it is revealed that Donia was chosen by Keenan in the past like Aislinn, but she failed the test and became a Winter Girl. Also, Keenan and Donia still have feelings for her.

Aislinn learns from Donia that Keenan is an unwilling pawn in his mother, Winter Queen’s sick game. He needs to choose a human girl hoping she could be the Summer Queen. Till now, he has chosen nine girls in nine centuries but those girls were either too scared to take it or could not succeed the test like Donia herself.

Aislinn is perplexed about choosing between Seth, her love interest, and Keenan. But when she comes to know of Beira’s plans to kill all faeries and mortals alike to ensure that her son may never find a Summer Queen, there is little choice left for her but to take the test. Beira makes attempts on Aislinn’s life but could not succeed as Beira is bound by her own powers and had to rely on other to complete the job. Aislinn somehow escape from harm on every attempt and picks up the Winter Staff to let it decide her destiny.

Fragile Eternity:

Fragile Eternity is a direct sequel to Wicked Lovely and is chronologically companion to Ink Exchange. The book opens with Seth and Aislinn having trouble with their relationship as it is hard for Seth to comprehend that his girlfriend is now immortal and a Summer Queen faery. Seth is having insecurity issues about fey superiority over mortals in every way. Moreover, when High Queen start interfering in their relationship and Dark Court takes Seth into their protection, Aisleen finds it hard to resolve the matter.

Aislinn is also having trouble keeping distance with Keenan as the summer season grows. That does not help to soothe things with Seth and it also brings an animosity between her and Donia.

Ink Exchange:

Ink Exchange is not a direct sequel to Wicked Lovely but the events of this book follow Wicked Lovely’s events somehow chronologically. Aislinn appears in the book, now a Summer Queen faery still attending school in her mortal form. Aislinn is also a close friend to Ink Exchange’s protagonist Leslie. Ink Exchange describes Aislinn well settled in her new life as Summer Queen of fey and keeps her transformation secret from Leslie amid the fact that Leslie is suspicious of her. When Leslie gets more and more involved with faeries, it gets harder for Aislinn to keep secrets intact.
