The Yellow Rose Mysteries series is authored by an American novelist Leann Sweeney. The main character in the series is known as Abby Rose, who is a private investigator and lives in Houston. She has also inherited a fortune and has a big heart

Leann Sweeney started her Yellow Rose Mystery series way back in 2004.the first book in the series is known as Pick Your Poison .in 2008 the series concluded with the novel Pushing Up Bluebonnets. Abby is at a crossroads in life as she has no work nor motivation. Fortunately, she possesses a big heart and has got some money, therefore she is able to persevere. She is given the answer of what to do with her life by fate after she discovers a gardener corpse in the greenhouse.

A Wedding to Die For by Leann Sweeney is book 2 in the Yellow Rose Mysteries. The novel is the story of a bride with a broken heart. Abby Rose is given the job to solve this wedding-gone-awry. Let’s now take a more closer look at the first 2 books in the Yellow Rose Mysteries Series by Leann Sweeney:

Pick Your Poison

This is the first book in the Yellow Rose Mysteries Series by Leann Sweeney. Out of school, out of work, and out of motivation, Abby Rose is contemplating her life and wondering what to do next. It’s the kind of situation that would get some girls down, but luckily Abby’s got a heart the size of Texas-and a bank account to match. But when she discovers the gardener dead in her greenhouse .Abby decides to find out the cause of the murder.

The book starts ,with Ben who is her gardener telling Abby Rose that he wants to tell her and her twin sister Kate something, but only if Kate is also around so that he will only have to tell the story once. Although Ben seems to be really nervous and agitated, Abby is unable to convince him to tell her before Kate’s’ arrival

Abby goes for a nap only to find Ben dead when she wakes up. Since there was no other person in the house at the time, quickly Abby Rose becomes the main suspect. when she finds out that that Ben was not actually Ben, she starts to do her own digging. It seems to her that Ben was there for unknown reasons, and he might have still been involved in another murder. Abby is not convinced with the way that t things are therefore she decides to get to the bottom of things, even though the police doing investigations

As for Kate who is also her sister ; both of them were adopted at a tender age by their late father. determined to make Abby see that he is changed, Abby’s ex-husband, Steve, still hangs around Abby regardless of anything. their aunt snoops in their lives just like the way that Abby snoops in the police investigation.

The book is very entertaining, has a great mystery, and is wonderfully cozy. You won’t get to know the killer until Abby finds out. the subplot is also great. Sweeney’s sense of humor is great and she also instills her Southern magic into the characters with just the right touch without overdoing it.

A Wedding to Die For

This is the second book in the Yellow Rose Mysteries Series by Leann Sweeney. From the writer of Pick Your Poison, here comes another crazy case of a broken-hearted bride-to-be and matrimonial murder when one family guest is hit over the head with the gift. The bad reception gets even deadlier for the Houston PI Abby Rose, who is enlisted to resolve this wedding fiasco.

Abby decided on transitioning her blossoming P.I. career to the adoption area, by doing the birth parent searches. She neatly utilizes her sister’s training as being a therapist to help in screening potential clients making sure that they are ready for whatever awaits.

This story begins when Megan requests her to find her mother because she’s getting married sooner and she would love her actual mother to attend the wedding. However, she does not want the adoptive family to know anything about this search. At the last minute, Abby Rose is asked to attend this wedding as part of the bridal’s party. In so doing, she notices someone who will not sign the guest’s book and does not seem to mingle well with any the other guests. However, before Abby can actually track her, Megan’s adoptive father is murdered at the wedding.

Chief Fielder, local chief of police, is a woman who normally sneers at Abby Rose being a P.I.-in the training. Tensions get even high when it turns out that Chief Fielder used to date Abby Rose’s current boyfriend. Chief Fielder focuses on Abby as the suspect, while Abby Rose tries to focus on getting Chief Fielder to do her own job while simultaneously attempting to solve the murder and track down Megan’s actual mother.

This novel is even better as compared to the first Yellow Rose novel. One of its minor characters, Jug, is especially colorful. You will hope that he makes a grand return appearance in the next books. You will also like how Abby Rose’s relationship with Caroline, her Aunt, has played out realistically starting from the first novel.

The “Southernisms” in this book are nice. In case you have ever spent some time in the South, then you can attest to this simple fact. Sweeney has continued to sprinkle her novels with a healthy balance of intelligence and wit. After reading this second novel in the Yellow Rose Mysteries series, you will definitely look forward to the next book in this series.

This book has a lot more police-based things in its plot. The main character is great like before. You will also fall in love with Jub. This minor character seemed to be holding a strong interest for most reader. Sweeney’s Yellow Rose Mysteries series will always keep you on the edge of your seat. The author throws in many twists that will always catch you off guard. You will certainly be surprised at the ending of every novel in this series. Over all, this is a good read.
