The Argeneau Vampire and Rogue Hunter series is an intriguing romantic series featuring vampires and humans written by Lynsay Sands. Lynsay is on the New York Times best selling author list for her Argeneau Vampire series. She has composed over 34 books as well as anthologies since the publication of her very first novel in 1997. Her books mostly are romantic comedies that cover the genres of historical, paranormal, and contemporary. These books have made it to the best seller lists for Barnes & Noble, Waldenbooks, USA Today, and the New York Times to name a few. Her books are read in over twelve countries and have even been translated into six languages. She has been nominated for the Romantic Times Best Historical Romance Award as well as the Romantic Times Best Paranormal Romance Award. She has been in the Reviewers International Organization nomination and placing bracket for the Awards of Excellence three times and has had a few books make it to the Favorite Funnies list by All About Romance.

The Argeneau Vampire series is about a Canadian family of vampires. The first book in the series is called “A Quick Bite” and follows the story line of Lissiana Argeneau, a vampire who has a curious preoccupation with blood in that she faints when she sees it. The second book in the Argeneau series is called “Love Bites” and is a prequel of sorts and paranormal comedy that follows the character of Etienne Argeneau. There are 20 books in the series, ending with book 20, “Vampire Most Wanted”, featuring Basha Argeneau. The series follows the various members of the Argeneau clan as they search for their lifemates and deal with life being a vampire.

The Argeneau Series: A Quick Bite

Lissiana Argeneau has a secret, and a very handsome guy who is currently tied to her bed. Lissiana is a vampire and belongs to a Canadian family of vampires. She has been looking for the right guy for her for literally centuries, and not just a nice snack for dinner or dessert. The hot guy she has in her bed might just be a satisfying candidate for Mr. Forever and Ever. Lissiana discovers that her mother has gotten her a present for her birthday; a psychologist named Greg Hewitt. Lissiana has the weakness of fainting at the sight of blood, which is more than a slight inconvenience when you consider the fact that vampires tend to need to feed off of human beings and take in their blood in order to ensure their continued survival.

Lissiana might have a delicious opportunity to overcome this weakness and find a potential love interest at the same time. Dr. Gregory Hewitt has an attractive looking neck that Lissiana finds very tempting. The psychologist gets over the shock of waking up in a strange bedroom and having no idea where he is relatively quickly, and especially once he sees a beautiful woman standing over him that is ready to engage in passionate exploits. What Dr. Gregory figures out is if it is possible for a doctor– and a man– to find love with a hot vampire lady, or is he destined to just be another snack?

Dr. Greg is willing to explore the options of true love as well as curing Lissiana of her reaction to the sight of blood, if he can get the sexy blond vampire to bite. Dr. Greg might just be able to cure Lissiana of her fear of seeing blood and so that she might be able to feed off blood bank bags instead of having to take her chances with the random humans that come along. The night takes an interesting turn when Lissiana actually starts to develop romantic feelings for the doctor.

Unfortunately the clan Lissiana belongs to is having difficulty in trying to control his strong human mind as well as erase the memories the good doctor has of the vampire family. If he can’t have his memories erased of the family he poses a strong threat to exposing their secret. The romantic story continues to progress as Lissiana and the doctor grow closer and the plot thickens with moments of high erotic arousal. The courtship between Lissiana and her cute doctor progresses as Lissiana teaches Greg how the vampire world operates. Will it be true love, or just a fling?

The Argeneau Series: Love Bites

“Love Bites” is an intelligent read that contains multiple laughs. The book follows Etienne Argeneau as he appears to be dead on coroner Rachel Garrett’s table, only to find that once the bullet is removed from his heart, Etienne is completely able to heal. The trouble is, there’s a mortal named Pudge who is hell bent on killing Etienne for good. Pudge has so far successfully injured Etienne twice badly enough to end up in the morgue. This time, Rachel gets in the way of Pudge’s attempts to murder the bold vampire by attempting to shield Etienne when she finds a heart beat. The axe bearing maniac tries to get at her instead. So Etienne does the only thing he can do; turn her into a vampire instead of letting her die and bringing her home to meet the vampire family.

The trouble is that Etienne has to hope that he and Rachel fall in love because otherwise Etienne has just lost the opportunity to gain a life mate. A vampire can only turn one person during their lifetime, and if you don’t fall in love, well, you’re out of luck. Rachel falling in love with Etienne will not be a simple task. His family of vampires is a little different from human families. Rachel is not exactly thrilled about eating blood, she doesn’t want her face to become all bumpy, and most of all, Pudge is still out there on the loose trying to kill vampires. But she and Etienne are starting to build a little bit of a spark.

There are amusing parts to the story when Rachel insists that she is not in reality but having a wet dream with a handsome and sexy man who believes he is a vampire. Conflicts arise in the plot such as Rachel needing to learn how to control her teeth and interacting with older vampires who are trying their best to adopt the hip lingo. Fans of Sands’ comedy of errors and paranormal jokes will enjoy the comedy included in Love Bites. With a sexy cousin in the mix and the murderous Pudge still out there looking for them, will the duo fall in love as they inch towards the climax?
