Carol Drinkwater is a famous Anglo-Irish actress, filmmaker and author. Best known for her role as Helen Herriot in the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small, Carol Drinkwaters is also a bestselling novelist. She has acted in numerous television series and films and won awards for the same. Her wide range of television work include Chocky , Golden Pennies, Father, A clockwork Orange, Queen Kong, The Shout.

She forayed into writing with a children’s book called The Haunted School. Since then she has written a number of books for adults as well including the hugely successful Olive series. She is married to French TV Producer Michel Noll. Carol Drinkwater, has her own website and regularly updates her blogs to stay connected with her readers.

The Olive Series

The olive series is mostly a memoir fueled by the passion that Carol Drinkwater has for Olives. The curiosity of how olives are produced led her on an historic journey in search of Olive cultivation. The Olive series mirrors her experience, trials and tribulations on her quest for Olive cultivation. There are 8 books in the series. The Olive Route and Olive Tree have been converted into documentaries and broad caste on international networks worldwide.

The Olive Farm: A Memoir of Life, Love and Olive Oil in the South of France- 2001

This is first of the Olive series. It reflects the start of the journey in finding the passion for Olives when Carol Drinkwater along with her then fiancé brought a 10 acre abandoned olive farm in the South of France.

The Olive Season: Amour, a New Life and Olives Too- 2003

This book chronicles the real life love story with Michel and their attempts at to bring their dream of cultivating olives into reality. It is a brilliantly written memoir peppered with humor and romance. The fact that it gave a very real account of the experiences the couple faced made it very related to the readers.

My Story Series

My Story series is a collection of 5 books which depict the lives of characters living the past era. It’s a mix of stories depicting characters from 18th century and colonial era.

The Hunger: The diary of Phyllis McCormack-

The Hunger is a story revolving around the blight of 1845 in Ireland. When the potato crop is destroyed, it leaves a starving population in its wake. Phyllis Mccormack is an ordinary lady who struggles to support her family. Circumstances lead her to search her rebel brother and she in turn is sucked into the fight for a free Ireland.

Sufferagate: The diary of Dolly Baxter, London – 2011

Sufferagate is the story set in 1909 England. The main protagonist Dolly, describes the era and the struggle to fight for the right of women to vote and how it was achieved.

The Haunted School- 1986

The haunted school is a story set in 1860 in which depicts the life of an English governess who takes up a job assignment of running a school in a remote Australian gold mining town. This was adapted into a mini television series by Disney Channel.

An Abundance of Rain- 1989

The novel chronicles the life of Kate De Marly who gives up her well settled life in England to travel to the Fijian island of Lesa to meet her father, who abandoned her as a child. While on the journey she learns that her father is dead and has left her his sugar plantation. On reaching the Island Katy seeks answers to questions like how did her father die and the secret behind someone persuading her to sell the land.

Akin to Love- 1992

Akin to Love is a story about Penny Morrison a famous movie star, who makes a film which is inspired by the love of her life.

Mapping The Heart- 1993

This is a love story set in Brazil and France, between an older woman and a young man. An English married movie actress falls in love with a young man and runs away to Brazil.

Molly- 1996

Molly is the story of a happy go lucky teenager whose world turns topsy-turvy when she finds out about the impending divorce of her parents. In a confused state of mind she runs away from school and becomes involved in a series of adventures.

Molly on the Run- 1996

Molly on the run features the adventures of Molly and her friend Daniella after they run away to Poland.

This is a collection of women prisoners who landed on the wrong side of the law and how they coped up with it.

Because You are Mine- 2001

This is a story about a middle aged woman, Lyndsay, whose husband leaves her after 15 yrs of marriage. The same day her son disappears along with another teenager from the area. As the search operations begun, a web of lies, deceit and her past threaten to ruin her life.

The girl in room Fourteen- 2013

This is a heart-warming love story set in France. It follows the life of Cecile who runs a successful lemon business. However there is a secret she hold that makes her reticent and reserved among people.

Hotel Paradise- 2014

Hotel Paradise is a novel about the protagonist, Genevieve Bowles, an award winning songwriter who attends the Cannes Festival and stays at the Hotel Paradise. Her past is rooted in this very hotel which threatens to ruin her future.

The only girl in the world is a novel with its premises in the First World War. It revolves around an English soldier who meets a beautiful girl Helene. The young lovers must fight uncertainty and overcome all difficulties to get their love

Awards

Carol Drinkwater has received the Variety Club Television Personality of the Year Award for playing Helen Herriot in “All Creatures Great and Small” in 1985.

She won a Critics Circle Best Screen Actress award for her role in the feature film, “Father” in 1990.
