Chronological Order of Guild Hunter Books

The novella Angels' Dance is a prequel novella to the Guild Hunter series. The second in the series is Angels' Judgement, which is found in both Must Love Hellhounds and Angels' Flight. Third is Angel's Pawn, also found in Angels' Flight. Angels' Wolf is set between Archangel's Consort and Archangel's Blade.

Guild Hunter, the exciting series by New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh is a world where humans, Vampires, Angels, and Archangels come together and create mischief, suspense and even love for their fans and dedicated readers.

Starting with “Angels Blood’ back in 2009 to the latest installment “Archangels Shadows” due in November of this year, the series has spanned seven titles and four novellas.

Although the series started with the novella entitled Angels Pawn the story of the Guild Hunter comes to life first with Elena Deveraux who as a Guild Hunter gets hired by an Archangel by the name of Raphael to hunt down a Vampire gone bad. Setting the pace quickly author Nalini Singh quickly brings the reader into a world unlike one would imagine where the Angels are not only capable of being benevolent. No, the Archangels of the Singh’s world are capable of doing evil and some spend their time doing just that.

Elena as part of the Guild Hunter cadre is charged with bringing in a Vampire who has gone missing, that is to say has gone awry of his contract, to serve an Archangel for a year. It would easy if the Archangel Raphael only wanted the tracking services of Guild Hunter Elena but as the reader quickly discovers the masculine allure of Raphael works akin to an erotic drug as its affects pull Elena in closer to him, as she tries to fight of seduction by an Archangel while finding a wayward Vampire.

In the next installment of the Guild Hunter series, Archangels Kiss, we find that our heroine Elena has been in a coma for a year. Upon waking she finds herself no longer, well, human as such. She has undergone a transformation. No, she has not become a vampire, nor has she metamorphosed into an Archangel. But, she has fallen in love with one and is now battling his semi-omnipotent control over her and her own battle with recovery and understanding how to be a lover to the powerful, and extremely possessive Archangel Raphael.

The theme of love and possession as well as intense eroticism is a theme that runs through the Guild Hunter Series and the other titles by Nalini Singh. It is a theme that she handles very well, as is attested to by her huge fan base that await each forthcoming title eagerly and intensely. Although seemingly a relative newcomer to the world of writing, she has been steadily putting out top-rate quality novels and novellas at an astonishing rate.
Her series on the Psy/Changelings, for which she is perhaps better known, spans fourteen titles not including six novellas with two more installments due out before the end of this year.

It is important to note that the Guild Hunter series is not an extension of the Psy/Changeling series by Nalini Singh. Readers who may be familiar with the Psy/Changeling characters and events will be refreshed to discover the Guild Hunter series is a completely different world, replete with characters who are not connected in any way whatsoever to Ms. Singh’s other novels.
Although in each series the reader will find the characters with amazing skills sets and hidden powers, what differentiates the Guild Hunter series from her other writing is the seemingly trite use of Angels and Vampires which Nalini Singh manages to turn on its head by her intertwining romance, deadly seduction, and dark eroticism within a world of immortal beings, power hungry Angels, servile Vampires and the deathly accurate humans who work as Guild Hunters.

Though the characters are many in number, some of them stand out from the others either due to their angelic cunning, sinister expertise or their dangerously addictive sex appeal.

The Archangel Raphael, previously mentioned who wields control over North America with his base in New York, where else of course. He is a powerful Archangel who has lived at least 1500 years, having been in control of North America for the last 500 of them. He is considered to be an Archangel without the capacity for mercy and as he lives he continues to evolve and increase in power.

Then there is the beautiful but dangerous Sara Haziz, a human though not hunter born like most of the Guild Hunters. She is dangerous, her crossbow within a hand’s reach, she is always eager and ready to kill, cramp or paralyze anything that gets in her way during a hunt. Unlike many of those who hunt, Sara is not subject to vampire compulsion, making her a wieldy opponent against some of the oldest and strongest vampires in the world.
What makes Sara such a dangerous hunter is her intense bond with fellow Guild Hunter Elene Parker Deveraux, a character who holds an extremely crucial role in the Guild Hunter series.
As the Guild Hunter series progresses readers will see Sara Haziz become a very influential and prominent individual within the Guild Hunter organization.

Fellow Guild Hunter Elene Parker Deveraux, is a hunter-born Guild Hunter who has the ability to track vampires through scent. She also favors the crossbow as her weapon of choice but is considered to have no equal when it comes to hunting her prey. She holds a prominent place in the Guild Hunter series as her story changes the flow of events. What happens to her is earth shattering and forever alters the relationship between the Hunter Guild, humans and the other Archangels.

The character Deacon holds a special place in the Guild Hunter series. Once known as the Slayer, a Hunter who remained anonymous, emerging only when called forth for special tasks by the Guild. A weapons maker extraordinaire, his specialty seems to be in tracking and capturing rouge Hunters, no longer in alliance to the Hunters Guild. His face expression never reveals his true intentions, until he meets his lover during a hunt.

Nalini Singh has really created a true masterpiece of work with her series Guild Hunter. The books are wonderfully crafted, a joy to read and difficult, if not impossible to put down once you start reading. As a reader you will want to return again and again to her world if not only to reread her prose but perhaps to gain a better understanding of the powerful romance and sensuality the lies underneath it all.
