The name ‘Housewife Assassin’ refers to a series of novels written by Josie Brown. The books are categorized as chick lit.

+The Story

The Housewife Assassin books are a mixed bag, in that different people tend to approach them with varying opinions. Many readers appreciate them for the satire that they are. And it seems like Josie wrote these books to be enjoyed as satire of some sort.

This might explain why some readers are unable to enjoy the Housewife Assassin series. These books definitely fall apart whenever they are taken seriously. The moment one begins to question some of the decisions made by the protagonist of the story it becomes a little difficult to condone her actions.

The Housewife Assassin series tells the story of Donna Stone. Donna was just another mother living an ordinary life. She had two children to worry about and a third one on the way. And with her husband Carl by her side, it seemed like Donna had the sort of ‘happily ever after’ that most people searched for but never found.

But then Donna’s life came crashing down in the most spectacular manner. It began the night she delivered her baby. First, Carl, her husband, died on his way to the delivery room. To be more specific, his car blew up.

Normal people do not die in exploding cars. It didn’t take Donna long to learn that her husband was actually an assassin. He had been an operative for a clandestine organization known as Acme Industries and his death had been organized and executed by a terrorist cell he was assigned to stop.

Any other mother and widow would have grieved her loss and worked to move forward, doing the best she could to keep her family together. However, Donna Stone is no ordinary mother. And rather than sitting on her laurels, Donna decided to join Acme with the intention of not only protecting her family from the goons that killed her husband but also getting revenge for Carl’s death.

Of course, Acme is hardly in the business of organizing personal revenge for grieving widows. And it isn’t long before Donna Stone is drawn into the workings of the Black Ops organization, becoming their tool in a fight against the forces of evil.

As a skilled operative and an expert marksman, the Housewife Assassin series tells the story of Donna Stone as an assassin trying to balance her role as a superspy with her duties as a mother.

The Housewife Assassin books are pretty short. They are designed to be simple, lighthearted fun. Donna Stone is a vivacious lady who is determined to have it all. Just because she has to keep the house clean and make her kids breakfast doesn’t mean she can’t stop nefarious terrorists and evil assassins.

+The Author

Josie Brown is an author that has worked with notable publishing names like Harper Collins and Simon & Schuster, though she has also achieved success as a self-published author.

The author is responsible for the Totlandia series and the True Hollywood Lies novels, not to mention the Housewife Assassin titles.

Some of Josie’s books have been optioned for possible movie adaptations by Jerry Bruckheimer, a movie and television producer.

Josie Brown can trace the Housewife Assassin series back to the Twin Tower attacks in New York. Even after the years had passed, Josie found that she was still shaken by those events. The fact that she was a parent probably had something to do with it.

She couldn’t help but worry about her family. She remembers being overwhelmed by a sense of helplessness. And in trying to ponder the question of what a mother would have to do to protect her children, she created the character of Donna Stone, the protagonist of the Housewife Assassin series.

Josie Brown remembers getting rather excited after coming up with the plot for her first book in the series. However, when she presented the idea to her agent, he didn’t get it. But Josie wouldn’t be deterred and quickly got another agent, one that better understood her sensibilities.

With more than a dozen Housewife Assassin books under her belt, it looks like Josie was right to believe in her idea.

+The Housewife Assassin’s Handbook

Most housewives spend their days cleaning up after the kids and cooking delectable meals. Donna Stone does all that and more. She is also a government-sanctioned assassin that will do anything to protect her family.

Anyone who chooses to read this book for the romance will be disappointed. That isn’t to say that there’s no romance. It just isn’t the serious kind. The first book in the Housewife Assassin series plays with aspects of suspense, humor, and romance, all them couched with a satirical package.

Donna Stone takes center stage as a housewife that was living the dream with her kids and loving husband. Then, on the day that she was giving birth to her third child, Donna’s husband died, or so she was told.

When Donna learns that her hubby was actually a CIA Assassin, she isn’t particularly pleased. When her deceased Husband’s employers decide to stop paying his salary, Donna is compelled to step up to the plate and take her husband’s place as an Assassin, if only to keep her family fed and to see her husband’s killers in chains.

Dealing with three kids is difficult enough. Fighting international assassins only adds to Donna’s already full plate.

+The Housewife Assassin’s Guide to Gracious Killing

Someone intends to kill the newly-elected Russian President, and they intend to do so during a billionaire industrialist’s nuclear arms summit.

The Assassination of a Russian President on American soil would undoubtedly spark a new World War. For this reason, Donna Stone is tasked with finding and stopping the rogue operative that will carry out the deed.

The second novel in the Housewife Assassin series finds Donna Stone tasked with saving the world. The newly-elected Russian President intends to visit Donna’s area as part of his US tour. Donna must get close to him and keep him safe in light of those assassins that are out to destroy him.

Back at home, Donna is looking to divorce Carl in order to prove her love to Jack.
