Hi everyone,
Here is what I read in the month of February:
Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney:I listened to this one, which is basically a locked room thriller set on an island. I generally love these. It had a big twist in it however that – well just not the type of thing I enjoy, and it took me out of the book.
Don’t Look For Me by Wendy Walker: Now THIS was a great listen. A woman disappears. Her daughter thinks she has been kidnapped, but her husband thinks she has just walked off. Great one both story and narration.
First time I have read anything by Wendy but I will be reading more by her in the future for sure.
When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead: I read this one for the Book Notification podcast. It’s targeted toward middle graders however honestly from both the perspective of an adult AND a middle grader – I did not enjoy this. The timeline was confusing, and it tried to be too much at once.
Misery by Stephen King: Very good read, but a rare “movie better than the book”.
All Systems Red by Martha Wells: First book in the Murderbot series. I’m a big fan of Apple TV+ and I see it advertised all the time so I decided to read the series first. Nice and easy books to read and this one was great. Already bought the rest and looking forward to it.
The Bittlemores by Jann Arden: This is………..something. The first 20 percent is absolutely full of violence on animals. And honestly, I struggled not to DNF it. But I stuck with it and I am glad I did because this was SUPERB. But if you are someone that hates anything happening to animals do not read this book.
Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes by Karin Slaughter: A short one which I listened to. Started well but then I felt it lost its way before just endng.
I do enjoy little audiobooks like that though – perfect length for a 2-3 hour train journey or drive.
