The news of his father’s murder is revealed to Hamilton through a recorded video message which was hidden until now. Soon, the main character of the novel is introduced, named Horatio Wilkes. He is the best friend of Hamilton and is about to visit the Prince mansion in order to meet Hamilton after hearing about the tragic death of his father. Horatio and Hamilton were doing general talks when the video had turned up. Now, they are required to act in unison and find the real killer before he takes someone else’s life. They are aware of the fact that it won’t be an easy task to find the real killer among plentiful suspicious people around. Another character named Olivia Mendelssohn is introduced as an environmentalist who is determined to clean up the Copenhagen River. Olivia is a former girlfriend of Hamilton. She hates the Prince’s paper plant, that has been polluting the Copenhagen River for decades. Hamilton’s mother Trudy marries his uncle Claude after his father’s death. With the marriage, Claude gets entitled to the half of the plant and its profits. Another character named Ford N. Branff is a media mogul, who wants to buy the plant. Ford is also the college flame of Trudy. Horatio Wilkes is efficient enough to carry out the investigation by himself and reveal the motive behind Hamilton’s father’s murder.
